Harvington Kennels and Cattery


Welcome to our well-established boarding kennels and cattery. We offer purpose-built, secure facilities on a 3-acre site located in between Stourbridge in the West Midlands and Kidderminster in the heart of the Worcestershire countryside. Our aim is to ensure your pets have an enjoyable stay with the best possible care from our wonderfully dedicated staff.


Carla and Andrew took over Harvington Kennels and Cattery in the September of 2017 and although they knew that the business was already well established and very well liked in the community, they felt that with their new energy and enthusiasm coupled with the ongoing support from experienced staff that they would level it up to be an even better place to leave your pets. This has most definitely been achieved although they are always striving to take this further! Harvington Kennels and Cattery now has a fantastic reputation for being a place where your dog pulls to go in, spending as much time as possible playing and socialising with other likeminded friendly dogs. Carla always says "no offence – but ”Hoomans are boring, other doggies are fun!”

We continue to be inspired by the positive feedback from our loyal customers, that have repeatedly used our facilities since they opened around Christmas 2009. Although it was a scary leap taking on HK&C, we are so glad we did, and we are immensely proud of how far we have come already. It can be worrying leaving your pet behind whether it’s the first time or the hundredth, and we would love to put your mind at ease. There are no stupid questions!  We offer (when space allows) taster sessions for your dog. This is an experience which will help them (and you!) get used to the staff, parts of the day-to-day routine and maybe even meet some of our other four legged guests. This is really helpful if you have a particularly nervous dog or you are nervous about leaving your dog for their first holiday stay… A few hours before the real holiday stay can help to settle everyone’s nerves. We love snapping photos of your pet having fun and will send a few photos to you whilst you’re away so that you can see for yourself how they are getting on.

Our Kennels


We have 21 spacious kennels of different sizes to cater for all breeds large and small. In addition we have 1 luxury kennel for dogs that require that little extra. Our overall aim throughout this new build project has been to create a calm, tranquil and cosy environment to help ensure that your pet is as comfortable and happy as possible throughout your pets stay.


All our kennels have underfloor heating, GRP flooring, uPVC doors and their own indoor run area. Background music is played throughout the day.


Exercise

Your dog will benefit from at least two fun walks a day in our fully secure fields.


Diet

We offer a wide range of wet and dry foods to suit your dog’s needs. All leading brands are available

If you prefer you can supply your dog’s own food.


Vaccinations

Vaccination cards must be produced on arrival as proof of their inoculations and will be retained during their stay.


Medication

If your pet requires medication whilst staying with us we will be happy to administer this although we cannot accept dogs with infectious/contagious conditions.

Exercise

Your dog will benefit from individually tailored walks either alone (on/off lead) or with pals. Walks are at least 20 minutes long twice a day in our fully secure fields. We do not charge  extra for walks/runs/plays as we believe that this is an important part of your pets welfare while on holiday at the kennels.

THINGS TO REMEMBER TO PACK EVERY TIME

VACCINATION CARD - in the interest of all our guests and in accordence to our licencing authority, it is mandatory that we hold your pets current and up-to-date vaccination card.

FOOD - If You prefer to supply your pets own food, you are welcome to do so. We have large freezer space if required.

MEDICATION - please spend a few minutes to lable / instructions on each item of medication (this will help us as we take hand over from you) you are welcome to supply (tricks like cheese, sausages, ham even peanut butter) to help the medicine go down!

BEDDING / TOYS - feel free to bring home comforts too.

Day Boarders

At Harvington kennels and Cattery we welcome short stays too. 

We have come to find that our doggie customers not only enjoy coming to us for their proper holidays but love to pop in for a stay and play session every now and then.

This is a service we enjoy providing and is for your convenience, there is no contract, you are not expected to use us often, we are here for when and if your doggie asks to come and play rather than be left at home alone. Simply call or text to ask if we have room to accommodate them.

 It gives doggie owners a guilt free day off to go to work or shop or play themselves. Only to realise that their dogs had the best day out too. The dogs are frantic, pulling from the boot of the car to come in, they go home happy and tired after having endless fun with all their like minded dog friends, they have two to three long bursts of fun on our huge walking field and are supervised playing with their friends in our two separate astroturf play areas.

The prices for this are as follows :

Under 6 hours stay once a week or more often is £15.00 per session

Over 6 hours £25.00 once a week is £25.00 per session

Over 6 hours up to 3 times a week is £22.50 per session

Over 6 hours 4 or more times s £20.00 per session

Our opening hours for just drop and go sessions are:

Monday 7:30 – 18:00

Tuesday 7:30-18:00

Wednesday 7:30-18:00

Thursday 7:30-18:00

Friday 7:30-18:00

Saturday 8:00-17:00

Sunday 9:00-17:00

By appointment we are flexible with these times, we charge an additional £3 for each additional half hour out of these opening hours.

Meet our senior staff - (The A-Team)

We are very lucky to have on board with us 


The Lovely Laura – she has been with Harvington kennels and cattery since 2015 and whizzes around this place missing nothing.


The Happy Henry - full on enthusiastic animal lover he joined us in 2021.  If he goes missing and you can’t see him walking dogs in the field, he’s probably doing some really dirty job no one else fancies doing.


Sweet Sydney - been hands on since 2017 – usually sat between a pack of dogs covered in fur or talking to the cats.


The Energetic Emily – a staple here since 2017 - she breezes through lighting up the kennels as she goes, spoiling the dogs as per,


The Awesome Andrew – owner since 2017 cares about everything here from the people to the pets the building to the bills. He does it all!


The Caring Carla - owner since 2017 busy body, sticks her nose everywhere it’s not needed! 


You will be greeted by at least one of the A-Team every time you come, between us we have accumulated a wealth of experience, we have earned animal care / management degrees, Ofqual qualifications Dog and Cat First Aid not to mention Animal Behaviour and real time experience gathered from socialising our visitors.



Cattery

Our cattery offers clean and secure double-glazed heated pens with indoor and semi-outdoor areas seperated by a double glazed door and access by a cat flap.  Each pen has scratching posts and heated raised sleeping platforms.  We will spend time with your cat throughout the day to make their stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Secure Dog Walking Field For Hire!

As you have probably noticed from our photo gallery and our 360 walk through video we are a very exclusive and privileged kennels.

One of the reasons we are so lucky is we have an amazing 2 and a half acres of well maintained grass field. It is fully secure, escape proof. It is much bigger than a professional football pitch allowing plenty of space to let your dog exercise off lead and really stretch their legs and have a well enjoyed blow out.

This is where the magic begins…

Call to book a slot any day of the week.

We charge a mere £5.00 and allow you to use the field for a session lasting up to half an hour. The field is completely yours....ENJOY!

We Have Gone Green!


We are now taking full advantage of our wonderful Harvington sunshine, by using solar panels to heat all the water for the house, kennels and cattery. In order to try to combat rising costs across the board and trying to keep our prices as low as possible we have invested in wind turbine technology which will generate some electricity to go towards heating the cattery and kennels! And as we are ever growing and changing with the demands and nature of the business, we are looking into a micro anaerobic digester to produce energy from our doggie poop!? Who knows how cool would it be to generate even more power from what is definitely a very large part of our waste here at Harvington kennels!

Volunteers - We are always happy to accomodate people of any age that have a genuine interest in spending time with our animals.

Work Experience - We are accredited by the Worcestershire Education Business Partnership for our support of young people on the work experience programme.

Groomers - we have a purpose built room and seperate bathroom (for hire) you can work as much or as little as you see fit. we can provide you with a captive cliental as our customers are always asking for their dogs to be groomed whilst they are staying  here with us.

Currently there are no full or part time vacancies for kennel hands at Harvington Kennels and Cattery at the moment, but keep an eye on us as you never know....
